INDIANA, Pa. – The Homer-Center Wildcats and Altoona Mountain Lions traded punches in a split dual meet Thursday night, January 22, at IUP’s John A. Pigeon Natatorium. Altoona surged to a 109–43 win on the girls’ side, while Homer-Center answered with a 92–68 victory in the boys’ meet, setting the tone for an energetic night of relays, fast starts, and hard-fought points from the first start to the final touch.
Homer-Center stacked up a season-high 13 first-place finishes, sparked by a trio of individual double-winners. Morgan Nagy captured the girls’ 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke, Trevor Cameron swept the boys 200 IM and 100 backstroke, and Brady Frazer won the boys 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. The Wildcats also owned the sprint lane as Landon Shoup took the boys 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly, while Blake Lucas powered to wins in the boys 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle. The home finale is scheduled for Thursday, January 29, when the Wildcats return for their last home meet of the season, turning the night into more than just lanes and whistles as they pause to celebrate their seniors, the swimmers who’ve logged the long practices, carried the relays, and helped shape this season one hard-earned lap at a time.
