A Ligonier Township landmark is completely destroyed following a fire Tuesday night.
Officials say a blaze that broke out shortly after close at Ruthie’s Diner burned through the roof and gutted the building. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but authorities do not suspect foul play at this time. Terry Stevens, the son of current owners Ruth and Fred Stevens, tells TribLive he is not sure whether the family will try to rebuild.
The business had been in operation since the 1950’s, serving thousands of guests including the late golf pro Arnold Palmer and many Pittsburgh Steelers players.
