A police chase is what led to a rescue at a Monessen hillside yesterday evening.
Westmoreland County officials say officers were pursuing a vehicle that was stolen out of Charleroi around 4:30 p.m. when two suspects ran on foot. Rope rescue teams from multiple fire departments were called in after three police officers and the suspects ended up down a 600-foot embankment off Pine Street, above Route 906, according to team members with Murrysville Medic One.
At least one of the suspects was taken to the hospital and a police officer was also transported for an eye injury.
