A portion of Route 422 in the Elderton area was closed Sunday evening due to a major traffic accident.
Officials with Elderton fire department said that they were called to the scene just before 4 pm for the 3-vehicle crash. It appeared to have been a high-speed crash, however an exact cause is pending investigation by state police. Two people were injured, with one being flown by Stat Medivac and the other transported by ground, both to a Pittsburgh hospital.
The road was closed for about six hours.

Few details are available at this time, but the Elderton fire department reported on its Facebook page that the road was closed around 5:00 PM yesterday for a report of a crash. That closure was in effect for five hours.
Iselin-West Lebanon firefighters were called in to help set up landing zones at Elderton School. No official word on how many people were hurt.
