U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins is dismissing criticism of Trump’s tariffs made by Governor Josh Shapiro at the Pennsylvania Farm Show.
Rollins visited the show in Harrisburg herself Thursday yesterday to counter Shapiro’s argument that the tariffs are a “multi-billion-dollar problem for the ag industry”. Rollins called the governor’s comments “a tired talking point from the Democrats”, saying the tariffs are necessary to rebalance an agriculture trade deficit left by the Biden Administration. Rollins went on to add that dairy exports are up 23 percent since Trump took office, a statistic meant to appeal to operators of Pennsylvania’s roughly five-thousand dairy farms.
