Pirates General Manager Ben Cherington says he is still shopping for players, and it could be younger, older, pitcher, or position player. He told SiriusXM/MLB Network over the weekend that he’s been looking for “certainty” and “depth”, knowing he’s dealt away some pitching this offseason and still needs bats.
Cherington says the Bucs still need to upgrade their talent.
The Pirates’ season opener against the New York Mets will be nationally televised. Major League Baseball announced on Friday that NBC/Peacock would televise twenty games this season, starting with Opening Day for the Bucs in New York. It’s scheduled for 1 PM. The MLB graphic accompanying the announcement featured Paul Skenes of the Pirates and Juan Soto of the Mets.
