There may be some traffic delays and intermittent stoppages for the new Salina Bridge over the Kiskiminetas River that spans from Armstrong to Westmoreland County on Monday.
The delays are coming as crews work to demolish the old Salina Bridge and are meant as a precautionary measure. It’s part of the $33.2 million project to replace the Edmon/Salina Bridge that carries Bridge Street over the Kiskiminetas and the Norfolk Southern Railroad. between Bell Township, Westmoreland County and Kiskiminetas Township, Armstrong County. The new superstructure will be a three-span continuous composite steel plate girder bridge on a new alignment located immediately downstream from the existing bridge.
Mekis Construction is the prime contractor and work is expected to continue into this year. Drivers are reminded to use caution in the area and follow posted signs and speed limits.
