BOYS BASKETBALL
Undefeated United rolled over Portage, 73-30. Brody Burkett scored a season-high 21 points for the Lions and Ryan Felix added 12. No Portage players reached double figures.
Four Homer-Center players scored in double figures as the Wildcats routed Purchase Line, 63-25. Nash Budner led the way with 12, while Jaiden Sharer and Joey Kosmack each scored 11 and Louie Rodman had 10. No Red Dragon players reached double figures.
It was tight all the way, but River Valley pulled away in the final quarter and defeated Marion Center, 66-59. Max Persichetti scored 15 of his game-high 27 points in the fourth quarter for the Panthers. Nick Mortimer had 13 and Bryson McDowell scored 12. For the Stingers, Alec Brudnock scored 20, Hayden Fox 19, and Kamden Rozier and Tyler Pack each added 10.
Alex Talmadge and Cole Wingard both had double-doubles to lead West Shamokin over Penns Manor, 61-37. Talmadge scored 21 points and had 11 rebounds, and he added 6 assists and 4 steals. Wingard scored 10 and also had 11 rebounds. Jackson Hardesty led the Comets with 14 and Vinny Myers added 12.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Indiana is 13-1, 5-0 in 5A Section 2 after a 58-22 thrashing of West Mifflin. Addy Hutton led the Indians with 17 points and Julia Antonacci scored 16.
Marion Center took on a pretty good Southern Huntingdon team, which came into the game at 8-3, but the Stingers outscored the Rockets 34-18 in the middle two quarters for a 56-42 win. Macie Miller had 23 points, 7 steals, and 6 assists for MC and Alivia Ruddock had a double-double, with 15 points and 10 rebounds. The Stingers are now 11-1.
HOCKEY
Andrew Manzek scored an even strength goal with 3:08 left in regulation to break a 4-4 tie and give Indiana a 5-4 win at Beaver last night. Tyler Yount scored a goal and Michael Dubetsky scored two to give Indiana a 3-0 first period lead, but they gave up three straight goals in the second period, then re-took the lead with Yount’s second of the night midway through the third. After Beaver’s Roman Guido tied it up less than a minute later, Manzek got the game-winner at 13:52.
Jake Jadzak stopped 38 of 42 shots to pick up the win in goal.
RIFLE
Indiana evened its record at 3-3 and is 2-0 in their section after trimming Armstrong on the rifle range, 791-38x to 790-39x. Top shooters for Indiana were Ian Smeltz and Hunter Williams, each with a 100-6x and Gavin Dicken with a 100-3x.
RDTV
Lots of action tonight on Renda Digital TV, with the Indiana boys taking on Shaler, tipping off at 7:30. That will include a ring ceremony for the state champion Indiana baseball team. And there’s a River Valley/Penns Manor doubleheader starting with the boys, on the air at 5:45, and followed up by the girls immediately afterward.
