The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry has released unemployment statistics for last November.
The department said that in November, the unemployment rate went up slightly to 4.2 percent. That represents a one-tenth of a percentage point increase from September of last year. The civilian labor workforce, which is the number of people working or looking for work, went up 20,000 over two months to 6,551,000 in November. Employment was up 13,000 while unemployment increased by 7,000. The total number of non-farm jobs rose 3500 over the month to 6,258,300, which marks the 19th consecutive month where a record high was recorded. Jobs increase from October in five of 11 industry super-sectors with the most movement seen in education and health services, which went up 2700 in the month.
Due to the federal government shutdown, statistics for October are not available.
