A Jefferson County woman has been charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of children after state police said they found three minors unsupervised in a Falls Creek home with trash-covered floors, a strong foul odor and flies throughout the residence.
According to ExploreJeffersonPa.Com, troopers responded to a George Street home just after 4 a.m. on Oct. 15, 2024, where a child was found sleeping on a bare mattress amid what police described as deplorable conditions. Authorities said no adults were present, and Children and Youth Services took protective custody of the children.
Margaret Jane Heiser, 37, was later charged on Dec. 31, 2025, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 17.
