It wasn’t easy for either IUP basketball teams last night, but both came up with wins over UPJ. Jack Benedict has the recap.
Coach Craig Carey’s 8th-ranked women are tied with Seton Hill and Gannon at 7-0 in the PSAC West and Cal is 6-1. UPJ is only 2-5, but Carey says there are no nights off in the PSAC.
A couple of Heritage Conference standouts played substantial minutes for UPJ. Marion Center’s Lydia Miller scored 5 points and Penns Manor grad Alyssa Altemus scored 2.
The IUP men shot 50 percent from the field in the first half, but that fell off to 38.46 percent in the second half. Searching for answers, coach Joe Lombardi says it might be the Crimson Hawks’ fitness level that is affecting their shooting.
Both IUP teams will visit Slippery Rock next Wednesday.
