Raymond Oscar Roush, Jr., 81, of Coral, PA, died on Monday, January 5, 2026, at home.
The son of Raymond O. Roush, Sr. and Clarabel (Lockard) Roush, he was born on July 8, 1944, in Punxsutawney, PA.
Raymond joined the United States Navy as a young man and proudly served our country for eight years, including during the Vietnam War. He then worked as a coal miner and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. Raymond was a member of Graceton-Coral Sportsman’s Club and Red Barn Sportsmen’s Club. He was also a member of the Homer City American Legion Post #493 and the Punxsutawney Elks Lodge #301.
He married Trudy P. Marsh Lawson on May 21, 2016, and together they shared nearly ten years of happy marriage.
Surviving is his beloved wife, Trudy (Marsh Lawson) Roush; four children, Ginny James (Tim) of Rossiter, Ginger Thomas of Harrisburg, Sherri Roush (Daryl Ferrell) of Carlisle, and Raymond “Butch” Roush of Punxsutawney; stepchildren, Stick Lawson (Jayleen) of Graceton, Dianna Jackson (Dave) of Homer City, and Jeffrey Lawson (Brenda) of Penn Run; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lois Kerr of Akron, OH, Donna Simmons (Harold) of Madison, OH, and Mona Norton of Madison, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Connie (Grube) Roush; and sister, Joyce Deahl.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 3 to 5 PM at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA, where a funeral service will follow, with Pastor Cindy Rummel officiating. A military service will be held at the funeral home with the Blairsville Military Honor Guard.
