It was a joyful Evgeni Malkin who joined his teammates for a full-contact practice yesterday in Cranberry, and “Geno Machino” looks like he could play tomorrow night against New Jersey at PPG Paints Arena. He’s missed the last fifteen Penguins games with an undisclosed injury.
Coach Dan Muse was happy to see Malkin practicing, and with great energy.
The Penguins will take a five-game winning streak into the game against the Devils tomorrow night. Muse says their turnaround after a four-game losing streak is a tribute to the players’ determination.
With 49 points, the Penguins are currently fifth in the Metro Division and are holding on to the final slot in the Eastern Conference playoff standings. Muse says others might not have believed the Penguins would contend for the playoffs this year, but they have always believed.
At practice yesterday forward Rutger McGroarty left the ice after colliding with a teammate. He appeared to be holding his head or neck when he exited.
