After taking a swing at Japanese free agent third baseman Kazuma Okamoto and missing, several sources, including the Post-Gazette’s Jason Mackey, say the Pirates are exploring the possibility of signing free agent third baseman Eugenio Suárez, who hit 49 home runs last year for the Diamondbacks and Mariners.
Pirates special assistant for hitting Daniel Vogelbach has been hired as a hitting coach for the Milwaukee Brewers. The 33-year-old began his coaching career last year with the Bucs after nine seasons as a player. He played for both the Pirates and Brewers, along with the Mariners, Mets, and Blue Jays.
