After a day off for New Year’s, Indiana County’s courts are back in service today with plea and sentencing hearings on the schedule.
One plea court hearing is for 46-year-old Christopher Mathis of Waynesburg in Greene County. He is charged with assault by prisoner facility employee and aggravated assault for an incident from September 15th of 2024. Also entering a plea today is Kyle Cantrell, a 38-year-old Pittsburgh man charged with inmate procuring a weapon, making repairs or selling an offensive weapon, and tampering with evidence for an incident on July 21st of last year.
Sentencing hearings are on the schedule today for 31-year-old Tyler Walker of Pittsburgh for a guilty plea to a charge of simple assault for an incident on April 2nd of last year. The other sentencing hearing is for 43-year-old Brian Schrekengost of Homer City, who pleaded guilty to two counts of simple assault from November 3rd of 2024.
