It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Albert Bartosh, of Blairsville, on December 29, 2025. Born on March 3, 1949, in Greensburg, PA, he attended Jeannette High School and graduated at the top of his class. John proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Stationed in Guam, John led a life full of adventure, dedication, and love. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. After his service, he pursued his passion for engineering and graduated from the University of Guam with a degree in Electrical Engineering. His career at NASA, Honeywell, and Citizen’s (Mellon) Bank was marked by a commitment to innovation and excellence.
He leaves behind his cherished wife of 46 years, Sue Bartosh (Hornberger), and his loving sister, Mary Bartosh. John was a devoted father to his children: Rick, Bill, Debbie, and Tim. He is also survived by his beloved 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, whose lives he touched with his goofy personality and wisdom. He is preceded in death by his parents, Verna Guy and Charles Bartosh, and his dear daughter, Debbie Sue.
John was a man of many interests. He found joy in simple pleasures like gardening, hunting, fishing, and performing magic tricks. His poker nights were legendary among friends and family. John was an active member of the Derry Rod & Gun Club and the Blairsville VFW, where he forged lasting friendships and shared his love for the outdoors and camaraderie.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at Ferguson Funeral Home & Monument Company, 25 W. Market St., Blairsville, PA 15717 on Saturday, January 17, 2026 from Noon-3 PM. Blairsville Military Honor Guard will conduct military services at 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Blairsville VFW Post 5821, in John’s memory.
