As expected, numbers connected with respiratory illnesses have increased rapidly in Pennsylvania over the holidays.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported that as of last Saturday, lab-confirmed flu case numbers have gone up to 35,055 for the flu season that goes back to September 28th. 22 flu-related deaths have been reported in state residents, according to the National Center for Health Statistics. Over last week, the percent of emergency department visits with an influenza diagnosis was “very high” across the state for all age groups. For RSV, 4,431 cases have been reported in Pennsylvania, but the percentage of emergency department visits is low.
Indiana County has 67 reported cases of lab-confirmed flu and 11 cases of RSV.
