BOYS BASKETBALL
In a matchup of two good teams, Indiana wins their holiday tournament, 62-52 over Derry. Aaron Webb scored 22 points and Darius Webb added 17. For the Trojans, Brayden Robinson scored 15, Stanley Rajkovich had 12, and Hudson Fridley 11.
River Valley clipped Punxsutawney, 60-52 in the consolation game.
United dominated Tussey Mountain, 73-27 to remain undefeated and win the Boswell Jaycees tournament. Carter Payne led the Lions with 24 points, Brody Burkett had 17 and Dmitri Worthington 16.
Tied at 50-50 after four quarters, Homer-Center and Meyersdale needed overtime to decide the championship game of the Dick Rigby Tournament at Ferndale, with the Red Raiders edging the Wildcats, 61-59. Nash Budner scored 21 and Joey Kosmack had 19 for Homer-Center.
Make it two in a row for West Shamokin, as the Wolves beat Cambria Heights, 46-44. Alex Talmadge led the way with 20 points, and JJ Cessna scored 10. The Highlanders missed a half-court shot for the win at the buzzer.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Still undefeated! The Indiana girls move to 11-0 with their 55-33 win over Burrell in the capper of the Indiana holiday tournament. Laken Kugler, Samantha Martin, and Julia Antonacci all scored 14 points for the Indians.
In the Central Cambria Tournament consolation game, Penns Manor rebounded from its first loss of the season, racing out to a 33-13 first half advantage on the way to a 47-32 win over Portage. The Comets were led by Josslyn Bennett with 13 points. Adia Lieb scored 12 and Katie Bertolino had 10 rebounds. Brytton Myher led the Mustangs with 13.
Penns Manor’s Lieb and Portage’s Kendall Bednarski made the All-Tournament team.
