The Penguins pulled off a trade yesterday to bring forward Yegor Chinakov from Columbus to Pittsburgh. In exchange, the Pens gave Columbus forward Danton Heinen along with a second-round draft pick in 2026 and a third round pick in 2027. Chinakhov has appeared in 29 games this season and has three goals and three assists while averaging 10 minutes, 18 seconds of ice time. He has been a healthy scratch for the past two games before the trade.
At practice yesterday, defenseman Erik Karlsson was not present due to an unspecified illness. He did play in Sunday’s win against Chicago, but did not go past the 10:50 mark of the third period. Pens Head Coach Dan Muse said Karlsson was held off due to the illness. This breaks a streak of 201 consecutive games. He has three goals and 23 assists so far this season.
The Pens return to action tonight against the Carolina Hurricanes. You can hear it starting at 6:00 with the pre-game show on U-92.5 FM.
