A man was sentenced yesterday for leading police on a chase earlier this year.
Judge Michael Clark ordered 31-year-old Nicholas Empfield of Somerset to serve up to a day less than two years in the Indiana County Jail and four years of probation for charges of fleeing or attempting to elude police; simple assault; fraudulently altering a vehicle’s title, registration or insurance; resisting arrest and four summary traffic-related charges. He will also be responsible for paying fines and associated court costs.
The charges go back to April 9th when he was riding his motorcycle with a woman in the area of Blue Spruce Road north of 7th Street. During the pursuit, Empfield lost control of his bike after missing a turn and crashed. Both suffered minor injuries.
