Gasoline prices continued their downward trend through the final week of 2025, with the national average for a gallon of regular unleaded falling to $2.83, according to AAA and GasBuddy.com.
While the national figure marks the cheapest December at the pump in five years, Pennsylvania drivers continue to pay a premium with a statewide average of $3.06.
Regionally, price relief remains uneven across the Commonwealth’s central counties; Indiana County currently carries the highest local average at $3.39 per gallon, followed by Clearfield County at $3.20. More competitive pricing can be found in Jefferson and Clarion counties, where averages have dipped to $3.13 and $3.09, respectively.
Analysts attribute the lower holiday costs to strong domestic supply and stable crude oil prices, which have largely offset the surge in seasonal travel demand.
