The Steelers added depth to their secondary on Christmas Eve, signing veteran cornerback Tre Flowers, and the move sent him and his family rushing to Pittsburgh.
Flowers, now in his eighth NFL season, says he jumped on a flight from Dallas after getting the call, bringing his wife, kids, and a few Christmas gifts along. He joins a banged-up Steelers secondary with two cornerbacks already ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Browns.
Meanwhile, December football has been good to Pittsburgh. Since the calendar flipped, the Steelers are 3-and-0, with wins over Baltimore, Miami, and Detroit — a stretch players say reflects the grit Coach Mike Tomlin preaches this time of year.
