Troopers are continuing to investigate an attempted robbery of a motor vehicle and are requesting assistance from members of the public who may have relevant video surveillance footage that could aid in the investigation.
On December 22, 2025 at approximately 6:41 p.m., members of Troop A, Indiana were dispatched to an attempted robbery of a motor vehicle near 34 North Main Street, Homer City Borough, Indiana County. The suspect, an unknown adult male, had fled the scene prior to Troopers’ arrival.
This incident was determined to have occurred at approximately 6:29 p.m. on North Main Street in Homer City Borough in front of the Homer City Post Office (25 North Main Street).
The suspect was reported to have pulled the victim, an adult female, from her vehicle and attempted to steal the vehicle. The suspect’s attempt to steal the vehicle was unsuccessful as the victim had the key fob on her person and it is believed that the vehicle would not start due to lack of proximity to the key fob. The victim did report having sustained a minor injury.
Following this robbery attempt, the suspect then crossed the street and attempted to open the door of another occupied vehicle, but the operator sped off, dragging the suspect a short distance as the suspect held onto the fleeing vehicle.
The suspect then grabbed a door handle of a passing pick-up truck and climbed into the bed of that pick-up truck. The driver of the pick-up truck continued traveling south along North Main Street, then stopped at the Homer City Borough Office/Police Station (30 East Wiley Street) at which time the suspect climbed out of the bed of the pick-up truck and fled the area on foot.
Troopers were provided a description of the suspect and, while canvassing the area, located a man fitting the description of the suspect near Ridge Avenue and SR 119 near the Homer City Borough/Center Township line. The suspect, later identified as a 57-year-old male of Johnstown, PA, failed to comply with verbal commands and a foot pursuit ensued.
Following a Taser deployment, the suspect was taken into custody by Troopers at 7:04 p.m. and resisted arrest. He was also found to be the subject of outstanding arrest warrants.
The suspect was transported to Indiana Regional Medical Center, where he was medically cleared. He was then lodged in the Indiana County Jail on the outstanding arrest warrants.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information or relevant video surveillance footage is encouraged to contact Tpr. James Hanley, Troop A, Indiana Criminal Investigation Unit, at 724-357-1960.
Specifically, we are requesting that residents, motorists, and business owners in the area of this incident review any available surveillance camera footage, doorbell camera footage, and/or vehicle dash cam footage of this incident or of any suspicious activity in the immediate area of the incident. The relevant timeframe is from approximately 6:00 p.m. to 7:04 p.m. on December 22.
