Today marks the final day of Teddy Bear Fund Drive collection week.
So far this week, $19,497 has been raised for the fund drive, which supports child health care at Indiana Regional Medical Center and the Free Care Fund of Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.
While a lot of donations are expected to come in today, there are two challenges on the table. This morning, between 8:00 and 9:30, Senator Joe Pittman is challenging the public to raise up to $1500 in new donations at the intersection of 7th and Philadelphia Streets, which he has pledged to match.
Senator Pittman talked about why it was important to support the fund drive.
The other challenge will take place over the weekend during the Mark Arbuckle Classic at the KCAC. Attorney Pat Dougherty, who will be calling the Indiana High Basketball games at the event, will donate $2 for every point scored by the Indiana High School Boys and Girls Basketball teams.
We’ll have coverage of Teddy Bear Fund Drive week on WCCS from 8-10 this morning and WDAD from 10-4.
