The Pirates have completed manager Donnie Kelly’s Major League coaching staff and added several other specialists to the franchise. Former Indianapolis manager Chris Truby will come back as Kelly’s infield coach. Shawn Bowman, who replaced Truby at Indy, will be the Bucs’ field coordinator, and Thomas Whitsett joins new pitching coach Bill Murphy as assistant pitching coach. Both come to the Pirates from the Astros organization.

Other moves include the elevation of Luke Novosel to head athletic trainer, Joel Harris coming from the Red Sox to be associate athletic trainer, and Tyler Brooks will be assistant athletic trainer. Alan Burr is promoted to head strength coach, and Glenn Nutting is the assistant strength coach. Kara Wiggins joins the team as dietitian, assisted by John Regan, and Ryan Jackson is promoted to major league mental performance coordinator.
