Pittsburgh Public Safety official are confirming that city police officers responded to an incident involving federal immigration agents in Mount Washington yesterday.
A city spokesperson says police and medics arrived in the 400 block of Norton Street after multiple neighbors reported a fight between a man and unidentified law enforcement. There were immigration agents trying to take a man into custody, leading to the altercation, according to Pittsburgh leaders.
The city spokesperson says local officers are not made aware of federal immigration enforcement activity and they did not assist the ICE agents with arrests.
