A Greensburg man accused of killing a transient man and dumping his body near New Alexandria will go to trial in Westmoreland County on charges of criminal homicide and abuse of a corpse.
The preliminary hearing was held yesterday for 47-year-old Joseph Zvara of Greensburg. Authorities believe that he killed 64-year-old Robert Friend and deposited his remains on the game lands in Loyalhanna Township. One of the people who testified yesterday was Zvara’s son, Braden, who said he got different stories from his father when he brought up the subject repeatedly. District Judge Jason Buczak was also presented with surveillance footage from October 21st that showed Joseph Zvara with Friend. The two were also seen that night at Pizza Sienna.
Zvara remains at the Westmoreland County Jail without bail. No word on when the trial will take place.
