College football bowl season starts tonight with the Salute to Veterans Bowl in Montgomery, Alabama, with Troy playing Jacksonville State at 9 o’clock.
Pitt will play East Carolina in the Military Bowl on December 27th. The Pirates’ quarterback, Katin Houser, announced yesterday that he will not play in the game and will enter the transfer portal, which opens on January 2nd.
East Carolina has already lost its defensive coordinator, Josh Aldridge, and offensive coordinator John David Baker. Aldridge is joining the South Florida program and Baker is going to Ole Miss. Pitt special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Jacob Bronowski has left the program to join Auburn’s coaching staff.
Former South Carolina quarterback Steve Tanneyhill has passed away at age 52. He died in his sleep over the weekend, according to the South Carolina athletic department. The Altoona High School star was a flamboyant, record-setting QB for the Gamecocks and a high school coaching legend, leading Chesterfield High School to the South Carolina state championship three straight seasons, from 2007 to 2009.
