The Penguins face off with the Montreal Canadiens tonight at PPG Paints Arena, lugging a two-game losing streak with them, with both of those losses coming in shootouts. Yesterday, they returned forward Sam Poulin to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, just a day after recalling him in the wake of placing Evgeni Malkin and Blake Lizotte on injured reserve.
The Penguins, Devils, and Islanders are in a three-way tie for fourth in the Metro Division, with 35 points. That’s four behind first place Washington, three in back of Carolina, and two behind the New York Islanders. Only seven points separate the first-place Capitals from the last place Columbus Blue Jackets.
Montreal is in fourth place in the Atlantic Division with 33 points. The Canadiens have lost two games in a row, and four of their last six.
The Penguins have beaten Montreal the last six times they’ve played. Airtime tonight on 92.5 FM U92 is at 6 o’clock.
