The Indiana Fire Association was sent out for a reported structure fire last night in the 400 block of School Street.
As the fire was in a reported duplex, Creekside, Homer City, Clymer and Coral-Graceton fire departments were also sent out along with Citizen’s Ambulance, the Police department and the Emergency Management Agency. Indiana firefighters found light smoke in the hallway of one apartment, and further investigation revealed two burnt fiberglass-wrapped insulated pipes in a closet. They discovered that heat tape that had wrapped around the water pipes and covered with fiberglass insulation shorted out, causing the insulation to burn.
The other fire departments were quickly sent back. Crews were able to unplug the heat-tape in the basement and safely restore power. Minimal damage was reported.
