Thursday night, some of the details concerning the Indiana County Municipal Emergency Services Authority were released during their public hearing at Homer-Center High School.
One of the biggest questions answered was how much ICMESA would charge for services and how that money would be collected. Individual homes would be covered at $75 per household unit and businesses would pay $100 to $300 annually depending on how many people would be employed. ICMSEA Chairman Jonathan Smith said that they will work with tax collectors and the tax assessment office to figure out how to make sure that money would be collected. He also talked about how they arrived at the numbers.
As far as those who don’t pay, he said they are trying to determine how to deal with them.
Smith also made a point throughout the night that ICMESA will not replace any EMS providers, but will partner with them to support their operations, ensure readiness and strengthen long-term sustainability.
