Police are looking for a Washington County couple accused of letting a relative’s dead body decompose inside their home.
Arrest warrants have been issued for James and Debbie Bebout. Authorities first discovered the body of Michael Bebout, James’s brother, back in January, lying in his bed in a state of advanced decomposition. Michael was living with the couple in Canton Township when he died of natural causes roughly six months earlier, according to officials. Investigators say the Bebouts concealed Michael’s death so they could continue collecting his Social Security checks.
Police have now filed criminal charges after taking nearly a year to get toxicology screening results and to verify financial information.
