Before the game, the Penguins put Evgeni Malkin and Blake Lizotte on injured reserve with undisclosed injuries and recalled Danton Heinen and Sam Poulin from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Malkin and Lizotte are considered “week-to-week”.
Forward Rickard Rakell took part in a full-contact practice yesterday, working out with the team for the first time since having hand surgery October 26th. He’s missed 19 games.
The Pens have also recalled defensemen Harrison Brunicke and Jack St. Ivany from conditioning assignments with Wilkes, with Brunicke scheduled to attend Hockey Canada’s training camp for the IIHF World Junior Championship starting on Monday. St. Ivany will continue to be evaluated for a pre-season injury.
The Penguins will host the Montreal Canadiens tomorrow night.
