Criminal call hearings are scheduled for today at Indiana County Court, including one for a Clymer man who is charged in connection with an incident in July of this year.
Court documents show 22-year-old James David Shaffer faces charges of possession of an instrument of crime, simple assault and reckless endangerment for the incident on July 7th at a home in the 700 block of Morris Street. Police said that Shaffer was involved in a physical confrontation with an un-named woman that lead to a fight with the two and a witness. Shaffer fired two shots from his gun to try and stop the fight. He is currently free on $10,000 cash bail.
Criminal Call is designed to update the court and the parties involved on the progress of a case. Proceedings are usually postponed to a later date, but on occasion, guilty pleas have been entered at the Criminal Call phase.
