A mother and her daughter in Westmoreland County had first responders to give thanks for yesterday after they stepped in to save the family’s home and their holiday.
Emmie Ruff tells KDKA-TV crew members with the Mount Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department responded to her property after her oven caught fire and she could not find the source of the smoke. Firefighters found something burning inside the oven’s insulation and put it out quickly, but Ruff believed she was then left without a turkey for their Thanksgiving meal. That was before those same firefighters returned a few hours later with turkey dinners for the mom and the girl.
Ruff says there are not enough words to show her appreciation for the fire crew.
