There has been plenty of national “insider” speculation about possible moves the Pirates may make in the offseason. The latest: Robert Murray of FoulTerritory TV reports the Pirates may be pursuing a reunion with left fielder Tommy Pham, who hit .245 with 10 home runs and was a Gold Glove finalist last year for the Bucs. On Monday, Ken Rosenthal reported in the New York Times that the Pirates are also interest in infielders Jorge Polanco of the Mariners, Ryan O’Hearn of the Padres, and Kazuma Okamoto, an 11-year veteran of Japanese baseball who is coming to play in the Major Leagues this year as a free agent.
MLB’s Winter Meetings, where there are traditionally a lot of player moves made, are December 7th through the 10th in Orlando.

The Angels and third baseman Anthony Rendon are engaged in talks to buy out the final year of the third baseman’s contract, which is one of the worst deals a team has ever made. He’s owed $26 million from his $245 million, seven-year contract. He’s missed 451 of the Angels’ 708 games since he signed with them and in the last five years, he’s played 52, 58, 47, 43, and 57 games. He plans to retire due to hip ailments.
