Parts of the Upper Midwest and the Northeast are expecting blizzard warnings and whiteout conditions on Thanksgiving.
Forecasters are warning of dangerous driving conditions in states downwind of the Great Lakes, and to avoid traveling in parts of Michigan, Ohio, New York and Pennsylvania on both Wednesday and Thursday. They say the combination of lake-effect snow and 50-mile-an-hour wind gusts will create periods of whiteout conditions across much of the region.
Winter weather alerts are being posted from Eastern Minnesota to Upstate New York today through Saturday.
