Mike Tomlin said it would be Friday before the Steelers got a look at Aaron Rodgers in practice, but Rodgers said yesterday that he hopes to test his fractured wrist at practice today. His work today might involve testing various braces to see which would be the most comfortable and offer the best safety.
Rodgers outlines the plan.
Rodgers loves to play in Chicago, and is looking forward to a trip to a city he visited often with the Green Bay Packers.
Rodgers says the Bears’ defense under former Saints and Raiders head coach Dennis Allen is playing solid football, and swiping the ball away from opposing offenses.
Rodgers says he loves working with Mason Rudolph, who he says really studies the game and brings a great personality to the quarterback room.
Center Zach Frazier says whether it’s Rodgers or Rudolph, the Steelers will be in good hands.
Frazier doesn’t anticipate having to change his style of snapping the ball due to Rodgers’ injury.
Defensive end Keeanu Benton says the Steelers will be challenged by Bears quarterback Caleb Williams.
Benton says the key to stopping the Bears’ versatile offense is playing your assignment.
At practice yesterday, cornerback Darius Slay and return man Ke’Shawn Williams both put in full practices, although both remain in concussion protocol. Linebacker Cole Holcomb was also a full participant. Guard Isaac Seumalo was limited. Linebacker Alex Highsmith and running back Jaylen Warren were out.
The Steelers have given up on getting cornerback Corey Trice Jr. back this season. His 21-day activation window closed yesterday, so he is done for the year.
Legendary “Steel Curtain” member L.C. Greenwood has advanced to the final nine in balloting for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The six-time Pro Bowl defensive end and two-time first team All-Pro was a member of the NFL All-Decade Team. He passed away in 2013. The list of semifinalists will be trimmed to three finalists next week. (The other semifinalists are Ken Anderson, Roger Craig, Henry Ellard, Joe Jacoby, Eddie Meador, Stanley Morgan, Steve Tasker and Otis Taylor)
