Several hospitals in Western Pennsylvania are being acquired by the West Virginia University Health System soon.
Independence Health System is set to merge with WVU Health by the fall of next year. Independence was formed in January of 2023 with the merger of Excela Health and Butler Health System.
Impacted hospitals include Frick, Latrobe, and Westmoreland in Westmoreland County, plus Butler Memorial and Clarion hospitals.
