Thursday night, the public was informed on the progress of negotiations between the Homer-Center School Board and the union representing the district’s teachers, counselors and school nurses.
Both sides were very complimentary of each other about the ongoing negotiations. Speaking during public comment, union member and district teacher Steven Hall said that negotiation teams on both sides have spent many hours on negotiations.
Superintendent Ralph Cecere said that negotiations are going well and in a respectful manner.
Both are hopeful negotiations will wrap up soon.
The board also passed a motion to publish an invitation to community members to apply for vacant school board seats. The board is expecting two vacancies. One of them is because Kelly Elliott, one of the winners in the general election, has said she will not accept the seat. The other is due to the resignation of Fred Hayes, who will step down after January’s meeting as he is moving out of the area.
