The Penguins put in another day of practice, and some extra time afterward yesterday. Connor Dewar continued to plug in for injured winger Rickard Rakell on Sidney Crosby’s top line.
Coach Dan Muse says he’s been enjoying watching the young Penguins mixing it up with the older guys, and he appreciates that Sidney Crosby often works after practice with the youngsters. He says the “kids” have brought a lot of energy to the locker room.
19-year-old defenseman Harrison Brunicke has been a healthy scratch for the last five games and has played the maximum nine before his rookie contract kicks in. He practiced with the team yesterday. Muse says there is a plan in place for Brunicke, but he wasn’t ready to share it publicly.
Forward Philip Thomasino cleared waivers yesterday and can be assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. The Penguins have not announced their plan for him yet.
The Penguins play the Minnesota Wild tomorrow. The Wild won their third straight game last night.
