IUP lost the PSAC championship game to Kutztown, 28-23, on Saturday, but the Crimson Hawks still landed the fourth seed in the NCAA Super Region One playoff bracket, announced last night in the Division II Selection Show.
7-3 IUP will host fifth seed Assumption, which is 8-2. The other half of IUP’s bracket features top seed Kutztown against number eight Bentley, which lost its first three games this season and won its next seven, including an upset of Assumption November 8th to claim the automatic bid out of the Northeast 10 Conference.
Assumption came back to beat West Chester on Saturday, 42-24. The Greyhounds and IUP will both be returning to the NCAA playoffs for the first time since 2022. IUP has played Assumption once before, beating them, 27-22, in the 2017 NCAA Quarterfinals.
