Three of the suspects in the killing of Hayden Gareffa in 2022 are due in Indiana County Court today for motions hearings.
Court documents show 24-year-olds Summer Settlemyer, Isaac Buchkowski of Johnstown and 23-year-old Thomas Alan Rivera, also of Johnstown, will go before President Judge Thomas Bianco concerning an order granting written motion and oral motion from Counsel to continue pre-trial hearings. The three along with Taylyn Edwards, Jesse Lee Wadsworth and Desean Alvarez are charged with criminal homicide, kidnapping and other crimes in the death of Gareffa on October 20th of 2022. Authorities say that they kidnapped him from his Grandmother’s home on Route 403, stabbed several times and left in the tall weeds and grass along an access road near Oneida Mine Road in Brush Valley Township.
Alvarez and Wadsworth are due back in court for criminal call hearings in January. Edwards pleaded guilty but mentally ill and was ordered to serve life in prison for criminal homicide and an additional five to ten years for the kidnapping charge. A post-conviction relief act hearing for him is set for February 21st.
