IUP coach Paul Tortorella and his staff have undoubtedly already put in lots of time studying and game-planning for this Saturday’s PSAC Championship Game at Kutztown, but after giving up 516 yards and 42 points in their win over Clarion this past Saturday, there is plenty more to do. The coach will join Jack Benedict tonight for what should be a lively edition of Hawk Talk from the Indiana Elks.
Kutztown has work to do as well. The unbeaten Golden Bears narrowly avoided an upset by 2-8 Bloomsburg on Saturday, and IUP’s jet-fueled offense has to have their full attention, with Matthew Rueve throwing six more touchdown passes against Clarion and with the Crimson Hawks’ opportunistic defense creating three turnovers. Even with Clarion’s big day on Saturday, IUP is outgaining its opponents in total offense by 131 yards per game.
IUP was fifth in the Super Region One rankings last week. Kutztown was number one. The final regional rankings will be released on Monday at about 5 PM, prior to Hawk Talk. The selection show for the Super Region playoffs is scheduled for Sunday at 6 PM.
Tonight’s Hawk Talk airs on Renda Digital TV and 92.5 FM U92 radio at 6 o’clock, presented by The Co-Op Store.
