Bishop Guilfoyle put up three touchdowns in the first half and three more in the second to knock Homer-Center out of the District 6 playoffs, 42-0. The semifinal win will put the defending district and state champion Marauders into the title game on Friday against second-seeded Juniata Valley, a comeback winner over Claysburg-Kimmel on Friday.
Jake Kissell and Keegan Hewitt each scored three touchdowns for the Marauders. Kissell opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 3-yard run, and then after he caught a 51-yard pass from Justin Wheeler, he capped the second BG possession with a 1-yard rushing TD. Hewitt then ran in a score from four yards out for the third touchdown of the first quarter by Bishop Guilfoyle. They led 21-0 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Wheeler returned the second-half kickoff 62 yards and Kissell scored from a yard out to make it 28-0, and after an interception, BG had a short field again, taking over at the Wildcats’ 44. Three plays later, the freshman Hewitt scored his second touchdown, on a 28-yard run, and in the fourth, he ran one in from 25 yards to set the final at 28-0.
Homer-Center completes its season with an 8-4 record.
