An event to help veterans will be held today and tomorrow at the KCAC.
Today marks the first day of the Veterans Expo and Stand Down. It is meant to help county veterans and their families connect with critical services and support. Many veterans are facing challenges in accessing healthcare, securing employment, finding stable housing or looking to connect with others for camaraderie. It will offer free health screenings and mental health support, housing assistance, employment and career services, financial assistance, and several workshops. Additionally, the stand-down will distribute essential supplies like coats, gloves, hygiene kits and more to at-risk veterans to help them through the winter season.
Jessica Walker with the Indiana County Veteran Affairs office said that a lot of vendors have signed up to be part of the expo.
She added that this marks the first stand-down ever in Indiana County.
The expo and stand-down will be for veterans and their families from 9-4 today and from 9-2 tomorrow. The expo will open up to the public from 2-4 on Saturday.
Renda Media’s Andy Hart will be at the expo today and will broadcast from the KCAC this morning.
