Monday night, Homer City Borough Council approved advertising the budget for 2026.
Not only will the proposed budget for next year hold the line on taxes, but it will also have more in revenue that in expenditures and will also cover costs for Citizens Ambulance Service for the borough. Borough manager Tonya Weller talked about how they were able to make that possible.
The budget will be on display for the next month before going up for final approval next month.
Council also approved asking the Borough Solicitor to begin the process to pursue securing loans to pay for a local share account grant for the demolition of a few properties on Main Street in the borough as part of future redevelopment. The grant was awarded in October of 2025 and the borough would receive $525,000 in reinbursment grant money. Borough council also wishes to form a public group to determine what should be done with the properties.
