The governors of four eastern states last week announced a plan to fast-track approval of data centers that would generate and add power to the electricity grid.
At a multi-state hearing in Harrisburg, Governor Josh Shapiro and the governors of Maryland, New Jersey, and Virginia proposed adding the electricity to the PJM regional grid.
The website insideclimatenews.org reports that the measure would apply only to those companies that create power equal to their expected usage. The article quotes Pamela Quinlan of GQS New Energy Strategies as saying the “eight-page plan (is) a ‘voluntary and heavily incentivized’ path for the industry.”
