Along with the fatal side-by-side crash, Indiana County first responders had a busy day on Sunday.
The first call for service was at 2:30 AM with a smoke investigation on Sawmill Run Road in Grant Township. Marion Center firefighters were sent out at the time.
A structure fire was reported in Westwood Court in White Township at 12:19 PM. Indiana, Homer City, Creekside and Coral fire departments along with the HAZMAT team were dispatched for that call. Indiana fire officials said that the homeowner had started his new stove for the first time but did not check for a foreign object inside it that eventually burned. The fire was put out with a fire extinguisher before crews arrived. No injuries were reported but the stove was damaged beyond repair.
Indiana firefighters would return to action at 9:06 PM for an automatic fire alarm on Route 119 North in Rayne Township and a carbon monoxide alarm on South 13th Street in Indiana Borough at 12:37 this morning.
