District 6 kicked off the AA volleyball tournament last night with ninth seeded Marion Center making the 85-mile trek to Huntingdon and coming away with a dramatic rally from 0-2 down to a 3-2 win.
The Stingers dropped the first two sets, both by scores of 25-22, then pulled off the reverse sweep, 28-26, 25-19, and 15-8 in the deciding fifth set. Alivia Ruddock had 20 kills, 15 digs, and a block. Natalie Black had 5 kills, 3 aces, and 2 blocks. Kieler Elkin had 4 kills, 16 digs, 2 blocks, and 2 aces. Reagan Mantini had 5 kills, 8 digs, and a block. Emma Zamborsky added 7 kills, 10 digs, 3 aces, and 30 assists. Hannah Runk had 17 digs and 2 aces, and Riayn Miller had 1 kill, 3 digs, and 2 blocks
Marion Center is 14-5 and will travel to top seed Richland for the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
Fourth seed West Shamokin swept No. 13 Tyrone, 3-0, and will host Forest Hills on Tuesday. No stats were provided.
